Tennis power couple Tsitsidosa calls it quits
Spanish tennis star Paula Badosa (26) has announced her split from boyfriend and fellow player Stefanos Tsitsipas (25) after nearly a year of public romance.
Badosa and Tsitsipas, nicknamed “Tsitsidosa” by fans, went public with their relationship during the 2023 French Open. They frequently cheered each other on at tournaments and shared loved-up posts on their joint social media account.
However, Badosa, currently ranked 126th due to injuries, revealed the couple’s amicable separation via Instagram story on Sunday.
“Following a period of reflection and many happy moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to part ways amicably,” Badosa wrote.
“Our journey has been filled with love and growth, and we choose to move forward on separate paths with immense mutual respect.”
“We appreciate the support of our loved ones and everyone who followed our story. As we enter this new chapter, we wish each other the very best in all our pursuits.”
Badosa, a former French Open quarter-finalist, recently faced concerns from doctors regarding a chronic back issue potentially hindering her career.
Tsitsipas, a two-time Grand Slam finalist, suffered an early exit at the Madrid Masters last month. Nevertheless, he’s enjoyed a strong clay court season, winning the Monte Carlo Masters and reaching the Barcelona Open final. He sets his sights on the French Open which kicks off on May 26th.
