Jannik Sinner will compete in the Australian Open semi-final against Novak Djokovic, undeterred by recent stomach issues

Jannik Sinner, despite appearing to grapple with a stomach issue during his Australian Open quarter-final victory, expressed optimism about his condition as he looks ahead to a high-stakes match against Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals. The Italian advanced to the semis with a straight-set win over Andrey Rublev, though he exhibited discomfort in the second set, frequently clutching his stomach. Whatever was ailing the No. 4 seed seemed to subside by the third set, enabling him to secure his spot in the semi-finals. Post-match, Sinner attributed the temporary problem to “something he ate,” describing it as merely “a bit of air” to be further examined.

“Perhaps it was something I consumed before the game. Thankfully, it subsided with time, and by the third set, I was no longer feeling any discomfort. Hopefully, everything will be fine,” Sinner remarked. Achieving his first Grand Slam final is on the horizon for the Italian, but he faces a formidable challenge against the 10-time Australian Open champion, Djokovic.
