Nicolas Jarry Makes History as First Chilean in 17 Years to Reach Masters 1000 Final

Nicolas Jarry (28) achieved a career milestone on Friday by securing a landmark victory over Tommy Paul (27) with a score of 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3 at the Italian Open, advancing to his inaugural ATP Masters 1000 final.

As the 21st seed, the Chilean player etched his name in history, becoming the first from his nation to reach a Masters 1000 final since Fernando Gonzalez accomplished the feat in Rome back in 2007. Moreover, Jarry’s remarkable performance will elevate his world ranking to 17th.

Reflecting on his achievement, Jarry expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, “I believe I showcased my finest tennis. I gave my all and remained aggressive throughout the match. Maintaining such a level of concentration is challenging, but I’m thrilled to have secured a spot in the final.”
