Ons Jabeur left the Aus Open after losing in an hour to her 16-year-old opponent
Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur faced an early exit in the second round of the 2024 Australian Open, losing to 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva, who is not representing any specific country in this tournament.
The first set was a swift affair, lasting only 20 minutes, and concluded with a decisive victory for Andreeva. While the second set proved more competitive, Jabeur struggled on her own serve, losing two games, and couldn’t find an answer on Andreeva’s serve, ultimately losing the match in 56 minutes.
Despite reaching three Grand Slam finals, Jabeur, 29, has faced defeat each time: at Wimbledon 2022 against Elena Rybakina, at the US Open 2022 against Iga Świątek, and at Wimbledon 2023 against Markéta Vondroušová. At the Australian Open, her best performance has been reaching the quarter-finals.
