The former doubles world champion has decided to retire from her singles career

The former world number one in doubles, Hsieh Su-wei, played her final singles match in her career during the first round of the Australian Open qualifiers. The 38-year-old Taiwanese tennis player lost 6-7(3), 4-6 to the 11th-seeded Anne Bondár from Hungary.

Having achieved her set goal for singles by reaching the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament, as demonstrated by her performance at the Australian Open in 2021, Hsieh Su-wei announced the conclusion of her fantastic singles journey. It’s worth mentioning that she and Barbora Strýcová secured victory at the Wimbledon tournament last year.
