O’Sullivan Credits Intermittent Fasting for Energy Boost in World Snooker Championship Run
Snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan, now 48, is aiming for a record-breaking eighth World Championship title. He recently revealed that intermittent fasting has been a key factor in his energetic performance during the grueling 17-day tournament in Sheffield.
O’Sullivan cruised into the quarterfinals with a dominant 13-7 victory over Ryan Day. He attributes his improved energy levels to a dietary shift, specifically going 16-17 hours without food before refueling for matches.
“I feel fantastic,” O’Sullivan said. “Despite my age, I have surprising energy. Eating too much actually makes me sluggish.”
While crediting his love of running for overall mental and physical sharpness, O’Sullivan emphasizes the role of intermittent fasting in his current form. “Eating right is important, and for this tournament, I’m following intermittent fasting. It gives me a noticeable energy boost.”
O’Sullivan acknowledges that success isn’t guaranteed by any single strategy. “There are many things I do, but every advantage counts at this stage,” he says. “This tournament demands endurance, stamina, and focus, and for me, intermittent fasting has definitely helped with that.”
O’Sullivan’s next opponent in the quarterfinals will be either Jack Lisowski or Stuart Bingham.
