Scheduled for Saturday, January 27, the 2024 Pegasus World Cup Invitational Series at Gulfstream Park will be broadcasted on NBC and Peacock from 4:30 to 6 p.m. ET, featuring top contenders competing for a substantial $4.5 million purse.
Among the notable participants in the headline dirt race is National Treasure (9-5), the 2023 Preakness Stakes champion, trained by Bob Baffert and ridden by Flavien Prat. Others in the field include Cigar Mile (G2) winner Hoist the Gold (10-1), Lexington Stakes (G3) champion First Mission (7-2), and Charles Town Classic (G2) winner Skippylongstocking.
In the Pegasus World Cup Turf, anticipated participants include Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf runner-up Warm Heart, three-time graded stakes winner Integration (3-1), and Woodbine Mile (G1) runner-up Shirl’s Speight (15-1), among others.
The event can be viewed on NBC and Peacock on January 27 from 4:30-6 p.m. ET, as well as on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. The Pegasus World Cup is an annual series of invite-only races held at Gulfstream Park since 2017, featuring the $3 million Pegasus World Cup on dirt and the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf on turf, both for horses aged 4 years and older.
Taking place at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, the Pegasus World Cup is renowned for its prestigious races and serves as a venue for various Road to the Kentucky Derby prep races.
Race coverage, analysis, and streaming options will be provided by NBC Sports during the 2024 Pegasus World Cup on January 27, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. ET. The previous year’s Pegasus World Cup was won by Art Collector, who continued to have a successful 2023 campaign with notable finishes in the New Orleans Classic (G2) and Alysheba Stakes (G2).
In the race just prior, Atone narrowly secured victory at the finish line, edging out co-favorite Ivar to claim the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf. However, Atone couldn’t replicate this triumph throughout the rest of 2023, concluding the year without adding another win to his record.
