Lee Yoon-seung from South Korea secured the men’s freestyle skiing dual moguls title, adding to his achievements after winning the mixed team dual moguls silver the previous day. Porter Huff of the United States earned the dual moguls silver, while Japan’s Nakamura Takuto claimed the bronze.

In the ice hockey preliminary round featuring six teams, the United States triumphed over Slovakia in a men’s match through a penalty shootout. The game saw both teams tying with one goal each in the first two periods, with the U.S. team initially taking a 2-1 lead. However, the Slovakians scored three consecutive points, leading 4-2. Despite this, the United States managed to level the score in the final period and secured victory in the shootout.

In the women’s preliminary matches involving six teams, Sweden defeated Norway with a score of 5-1, while Switzerland emerged victorious against France with a 2-0 win.

The curling competition continued with China prevailing over Japan with a score of 7-5 in the mixed doubles round robin.

The figure skating competition commenced with the pairs and men’s short programs.

Jacob Sanchez from the United States took the lead in the men’s singles with a score of 76.38 points in the short program, narrowly surpassing Slovakia’s Adam Hagara, who scored 75.06 points. South Korea’s Kim Hyung-yeom secured the third position with 69.28 points, while Rio Nakata, the Junior Grand Prix Final champion from Japan, finished in 13th place with a score of 55.59 points.

A total of 1,802 athletes, aged between 14 and 18, representing 78 nations and regions, are participating in the Winter Youth Olympics across four cities: Gangneung, PyeongChang, Jeongseon, and Hoengseong. The event, running until February 1, showcases seven sports, 15 disciplines, and 81 events as part of the Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics.
