Nils Allegre achieved a remarkable victory in the super-G event at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, securing his first-ever Alpine Ski World Cup win. The 30-year-old French skier, who had never previously stood on a World Cup podium, triumphed with a time of 1:11.92, outshining the favorites who faced setbacks. Allegre, expressing surprise at his performance, mentioned feeling unwell earlier in the day but found motivation after seeing Cyprien Sarrazin. Despite not usually thinking this way, Allegre decided to push himself, benefiting from a positive sensation on the salted snow and confidence in his skis under the prevailing conditions.

Guglielmo Bosca, an Italian skier who faced significant injuries early in his career, secured a second-place finish and expressed immense joy at achieving his first World Cup podium. Bosca revealed that obtaining a podium result was a significant goal for him after returning from injury, marking a fulfilling moment. Despite feeling confident in his recent skiing performance, he highlighted the amazing feeling of seeing the green light upon completing the race.

Switzerland’s Loic Meillard claimed the bronze medal, narrowly surpassing his compatriot Marco Odermatt, the dominant World Cup leader. Odermatt missed out on what could have been his record-breaking 13th super-G podium by a mere 0.03 seconds. Cyprien Sarazzin, who has been in excellent form, finished in 11th place and aims for improvement in the upcoming Sunday’s super-G event.
