Grenier successfully repeated her first World Cup triumph at the site a year later with a second-run surge.
Grenier said, “It’s crazy, I have no words.” “I’m so happy and proud. I wanted to do as well as I could and I was just hoping for a podium when I woke up this morning.”
Grenier finished fourth in the flip with a first-run time of 56.90 seconds, over half a second slower than Petra Vlhova.
After Vlhova faltered in the second run, the Canadian took the lead and posted an incredible 53.61 to win the gold.
“I was pretty mad at myself for the mistakes in the first run,” stated Grenier.
“I wanted the win after that because I was so annoyed.”
Federica Brignone of Italy won bronze, and Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland took home the silver medal. World Cup leader Mikaela Shiffrin, who finished ninth, had a rare off day.
