Marc Andre Fleury

Among NHL goalies, Marc-Andre Fleury is now in second place in terms of victories

The NHL Network has reported that Marc-Andre Fleury, the goaltender for the Minnesota Wild, has achieved a personal milestone in victories.

In a decisive 5-0 win over the New York Islanders, the Wild showcased a dominant performance. Marc-Andre Fleury, the home team’s goalie, secured yet another shutout, marking his 552nd career victory in his 1007th game. With this accomplishment, Fleury has surpassed Patrick Roy, claiming the second spot in goaltender victories in the National Hockey League. The top position on the list is still held by another Canadian, Martin Brodeur, who boasts 691 victories in 1266 games.

Chosen as the top overall pick in the 2003 NHL draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins (who traded their first pick to Florida before the draft), Fleury holds the distinction of being one of three goaltenders in history selected as the first overall pick.

A gold medalist in the 2010 Olympics with Team Canada, Fleury is a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Pittsburgh Penguins (in 2009, 2016, and 2017). In addition, he was honoured with the Vezina Trophy in 2021. Currently, Fleury is a player for the Minnesota Wild, having transferred from Chicago in 2022.
