Wolves Face Setback as Pedro Neto Faces Extended Spell on the Sidelines

Wolverhampton Wanderers received a significant blow as Pedro Neto is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to injury, confirmed manager Gary O’Neil. The Portuguese winger’s absence comes at a crucial juncture for the club, currently ninth in the Premier League and vying for a European qualification spot.

Neto, who has contributed three goals and 11 assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this season, has been a key player for Wolves. However, his injury setback has dealt a blow to the team’s aspirations for the remainder of the campaign.

Speaking after Wolves’ unexpected 3-2 defeat to Coventry City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, O’Neil expressed concern over Neto’s prognosis. “It looks like Neto’s season is probably over, with a possibility of a return towards the very end,” O’Neil stated on the club’s official website.

In addition to Neto’s injury, Wolves are also grappling with fitness issues concerning forwards Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan. Cunha is expected to return to contention for the upcoming clash against Aston Villa, while Hwang faces a longer spell on the sidelines, with an estimated recovery time of six to seven weeks.

Despite the setbacks, O’Neil emphasized the need for the team to adapt and find solutions from within the squad. “We need to keep working to find solutions from what we have,” O’Neil remarked, highlighting the importance of resilience and versatility in navigating through the challenges posed by injuries.

Looking ahead, Wolves face a crucial fixture against fourth-placed Aston Villa followed by a trip to face Burnley, where they will aim to overcome adversity and maintain their pursuit of European football qualification.
