Despite the absence of Mohamed Salah and himself, Wataru Endo thinks Liverpool will maintain their stellar run of play over the coming month.
Endo is scheduled to head to Qatar to skipper Japan in the Asian Cup, while Salah has already met with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.
Both players may be out until the middle of February, depending on how far each club gets.
They depart from Liverpool in a purple patch, as Jurgen Klopp’s team is presently leading the Premier League following a winning streak that dates back to the beginning of October.
With his early struggles adjusting to the Premier League, Endo filled in for the injured Alexis Mac Allister and has been a key component of Liverpool’s success.
The 30-year-old acknowledged he was conflicted about reporting for national service, despite his recent exploits earning him the title of December’s player of the month at Liverpool.
“Staying here is my desire, but as a national team captain, it holds significance for me,” Wataru Endo mentioned.
“At the moment, my focus is on the national team, giving my best. While aiming for success at the Asian Cup, it means extending my stay in Qatar.
“With Mac Allister back, I can solely concentrate on the national team. I’m confident Liverpool will perform excellently, 100%.
“I aim to return with the Asian Cup title. The congested festive schedule was challenging but also incredible,” Wataru Endo stated.

“This has been the most challenging Christmas and New Year in my life, but playing football is amazing, so I’ve also enjoyed it,” he expressed.
“The schedule is extremely tough, but I had to keep playing. Playing the games is the most crucial way for me to improve.
“With many injured players, I thought, being a significant player on the pitch, I needed to show why I came here.
“The team performed well, and I also played better than before, putting us at the top of the table, so I feel I’ve done my job. I sense that I’ve adapted more to playing in England.
“Confidence is significant as well. The manager has shown a lot of faith in me, and the other players understand me better now too.”
Liverpool’s initial match without Salah and Endo is an FA Cup third-round clash against Arsenal on Sunday, January 7. Their subsequent Premier League game is against Bournemouth on January 21.
