The Tottenham boss gets upset after a question about Eric Dier. ANGE POSTECOGLOU: ‘DON’T QUESTION MY INTEGRITY, HE’S INJURED’

After the reporter questioned Ange Postecoglou about Eric Dier’s absence after the Australian saw his Tottenham Hotspur team defeat Burnley in the FA Cup, thanks to a goal from Pedro Porro, the Australian shot back at the reporter. Postecoglou became enraged when the reporter began “question[ing] his] integrity” following the Spurs manager’s declaration that Dier’s injury kept him out of the game and had nothing to do with persistent rumors.

Nothing could make Ange Postecoglou’s evening better, even though his team had advanced to the FA Cup’s fourth round. He had just gotten back at a reporter when she inquired about Eric Dier’s absence.

Thanks to a fantastic goal from Pedro Porro, Postecoglou’s Spurs team narrowly defeated Burnley 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, Dier was the talk of the town, as the defender was left out of the matchday squad and was heavily connected to a move to Bayern Munich.

In an interview with ITV Sport following the game, Postecoglou said he was unaware of the rumors circulating about Dier’s future.

He said, “[Eric Dier] is hurt; he got hurt in training yesterday.”

“Absolutely nothing [about his connections to Bayern Munich] is known to me.” He wasn’t chosen because he wasn’t well enough to train yesterday.

“In his post-match press conference, the Australian manager expressed frustration at being repeatedly asked about the same issue.

“He’s injured and pulled up sore in training and couldn’t take part. [The transfer rumor] is a separate issue, but don’t question my integrity. When I say he’s injured, he’s injured. Ask him, but he was injured. It’s got nothing to do with anything else.

“I’ve got no idea [about the rumors], but when you ask me whether he’s injured, he’s injured. I didn’t make that up. If he wasn’t injured, I’d say he wasn’t selected. It’s easy for me to say.

“In terms of anything else that’s happening, not on my radar. If there is something, I’m sure you’ll hear of it, but it’s fair to say in the last 24 hours, I’ve been focusing on the game and the available guys.”
