Arteta gave a status report on Timber and Partey’s physical condition

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta gave insights into the recovery progress of defender Jurrien Timber and midfielder Thomas Partey. Timber is recuperating from a cruciate ligament tear suffered in August, while Partey recently made his return in December following a subpatellar tendon injury.

“Jurrien Timber is still far from being back with us, it’s a long-term injury. Thomas Partey? Unfortunately, he’s still far from training for the team” Arteta said.

After spending €40 million to join Arsenal from Ajax in the summer, Timber only appeared in two games for his new team before sustaining a catastrophic injury.

Partey was left off of Ghana’s roster for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations championship. Since October, the midfielder has been injured.

In the last three Premier League games, Arsenal has failed to secure a victory. Arteta’s club is now in fourth place in the league table as the new year gets underway. The Gunners will play Liverpool in the FA Cup on January 7.

According to earlier reports, the London team is almost certain to renew their contract with their star defender.
