Napoli has chosen to discipline their midfield player. He had before declined to extend the club’s contract
The decision not to extend the contract with Napoli could have adverse effects on Napoli‘s captain, Piotr Zieliński.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli has opted to exclude the Polish midfielder from the team after he turned down the latest contract extension offer from club president Aurelio De Laurentiis. Zieliński’s refusal to sign the new agreement was also influenced by a relatively low release clause, set at approximately 20 million euros.
Previously, there were reports indicating that the 29-year-old midfielder had agreed to all terms with Inter Milan and is prepared to join the “Nerazzurri” at the conclusion of the season.
Zieliński’s existing contract with Napoli is set to expire in the summer of 2024. Throughout this season, the Polish midfielder has featured in 24 matches for Napoli, contributing to six goal involvements, comprising three goals and three assists.
