In the ongoing Asian Cup action in Qatar, the anticipated clash unfolded between Japan and Vietnam in Group D. Despite being the favorites, Japan faced an early challenge when Monaco’s striker, Takumi Minamino, secured the opening goal in the eleventh minute.

However, the game quickly took a turn as Vietnamese forward Đinh Bac Nguyễn from Quang Nam leveled the score in the sixteenth minute. Seventeen minutes later, Hanoi’s striker Tuấn Hải Phạm propelled the Vietnamese team ahead.

Undeterred, the Japanese players mounted a comeback, equalizing and taking the lead before halftime. Minamino secured a brace in the 45th minute, capitalizing on a delivery from Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo. Just before the halftime whistle, Minamino turned provider, assisting Reims forward Keito Nakamura, who restored Japan’s lead.

Feyenoord’s forward Ayase Ueda sealed the match with a goal in the 85th minute, doubling Japan’s advantage after a pass from his partner Takefusa Kubo of Real Sociedad.

The final scoreline stood at 4-2, propelling Japan to the top position in Group D. The next match in this group, between Indonesia and Iraq, is scheduled for tomorrow.
