The Brazilian surpassed Ryan Giggs’ record, who previously held the title when he played for Manchester United against Sunderland at the age of 40 years and 39 days, exactly a decade ago.

Thiago Silva joined Chelsea on August 28, 2020, signing a contract until the end of the 2020/21 season with an option to extend for another year. He made his debut for the club on September 23, 2020, in a third-round League Cup match against Barnsley.
