Borussia Dortmund secures another loan, acquiring talent from Chelsea

Borussia Dortmund has officially confirmed the loan transfer of left-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. The Dutch footballer is set to play for the German club until the conclusion of the season. According to Fabrizio Romano, Maatsen extended his contract with Chelsea before the transfer, committing to the club until the summer of 2027. The agreement includes specific clauses as part of the arrangement.

Ian Maatsen’s move to Borussia Dortmund marks his fourth loan spell in his career, having previously been loaned to Charlton, Coventry, and Burnley by Chelsea. Notably, he played a pivotal role for Burnley in the previous season, contributing significantly to their Championship victory and subsequent promotion to the Premier League.

In the current season, Maatsen has featured in 15 matches for Chelsea but has not recorded any goal contributions. It’s worth noting that Borussia Dortmund recently secured the return of Jadon Sancho to the club on a loan basis.
