Ange Postecoglou cautions Spurs against following Newcastle’s “cautionary” approach
Leicester City has received assurance from the English Football League (EFL) that they will not face point deductions in the Championship for any breaches of spending rules committed during their time in the Premier League.
Following relegation from the Premier League last season, Leicester faced allegations of violating spending regulations, prompting the Premier League to refer the matter to an independent commission.
Initially, the EFL indicated its intention to honor any sanctions imposed on Leicester by the Premier League, even during its tenure in the Championship. However, in a subsequent communication to the English FA’s League Arbitration Panel (LAP), the EFL clarified that they lack the authority to enforce such penalties. At the same time, Leicester competes in the second tier.
In response, Leicester reiterated their commitment to cooperating with both the Premier League and the EFL throughout the disciplinary process. Emphasizing the importance of fair and timely adjudication, Leicester underscored the need for charges to be determined in accordance with the applicable regulations by the appropriate authorities.

The LAP further confirmed that any disciplinary proceedings initiated by the Premier League against Leicester would not be expedited to meet the May 4 deadline, as any potential point deductions would not impact the current Championship season.
Currently leading the Championship standings with an impressive tally of 88 points from 41 matches, Leicester remains focused on their quest for promotion back to the Premier League.
