Mastery of French. Results of the Women’s Relay at the World Biathlon Championships

The Biathlon World Championships recently featured its second race, the women’s relay, on Friday, February 9th.

Unexpectedly, French biathletes dominated the top positions in the race. Julia Simon secured the first place, completing the course in an impressive 20 minutes and 7.5 seconds without needing any extra rounds. Following closely behind in second place was Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, who finished just 4.9 seconds behind Simon and used one additional round during shooting.

The trio of French leaders was completed by Lou Jeanmonnot, who missed once during shooting and trailed the champion by 40.8 seconds. Additionally, Sophie Chauveau, another French biathlete, claimed the fourth position, trailing by 44.2 seconds after missing once during shooting.

In the Women’s Relay at the Biathlon World Championships, the top 6 positions were:

  2. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (France, 1+0) with a time +4.9 seconds
  3. Lou Jeanmonnot (France, 0+1) with a time +40.8 seconds
  4. Sophie Chauveau (France, 1+0) with a time +44.2 seconds
  5. Baiba Bendika (Latvia, 0+1) with a time +46.5 seconds
  6. Franziska Preuß (Germany, 0+1) with a time +1:05.3

It is noteworthy that the mixed relay event had already taken place in the tournament, with the French team emerging victorious. Despite encountering nine misses at the shooting range and enduring one penalty lap, the French team completed the course in 1 hour, 9 minutes, and 24.4 seconds, securing the gold medal in the discipline.

The success of the French team in both the women’s relay and the mixed relay highlights their dominance and strength in the 24hscore sport of biathlon.
