Although the specific nature of these changes remains uncertain, Shams Charania from The Athletic shed some light on the Warriors’ strategy for the trade deadline during a Monday morning discussion.

“The Warriors find themselves in a tough spot, having lost six of their last eight games,” Charania shared on FanDuel’s “Run It Back.” “We’ve discussed it, and essentially, everyone on the team is available for trade talks except for Steph Curry. In terms of long-term plans, Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Poziemski are highly valued and considered part of the core moving forward.

“The team is open to trade discussions involving Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, and there’s even a possibility of interest in someone like Klay Thompson. The Warriors are adopting an open-minded approach given their current situation—five games below .500 and holding the 12th spot in the standings. The next 10 days could potentially see some significant moves.”

Although Wiggins and Paul have been subjects of numerous trade speculations lately, the potential inclusion of Thompson might catch some off guard. Thompson, who has spent his entire NBA career with the Warriors, has expressed his desire to finish his career with the team that drafted him 11th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.

The Splash Brothers had a challenging start to the season, but there have been recent signs of improvement, especially for the 33-year-old. Despite an inconsistent beginning, he has shown flashes of his former self in the last few games. In 42 appearances, he is currently averaging 17.6 points, shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc, with 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

On the other hand, Wiggins is still grappling with the struggles he faced early in the season. He is posting career-low numbers in various categories, with averages of 12.3 points on 43.4-percent shooting from the field and 31 percent from three-point range. Additionally, he contributes 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 39 games.

His difficulties led to him being benched at one stage during the season, as Warriors coach Steve Kerr tested various lineups in an attempt to address the issue. Despite the team’s overall improvement in performance, they have struggled in close games and have let slip numerous leads.
