Victor Vembanyama

The player from San Antonio broke a record that had been in place for three decades

San Antonio basketball player Victor Vembanyama has rewritten a record that stood for three decades, according to NBA History.

During San Antonio’s regular-season game against Cleveland, center Victor Vembanyama delivered an impressive performance with 24 points, ten rebounds, three assists, and five blocked shots. This accomplishment makes him the first NBA player in the last 30 years to achieve 100 blocked shots in the first 35 matches of his career.

Prior to this, only five basketball players had achieved a similar feat: Shawn Bradley (1993/94), Alonzo Mourning (1992/93), Shaquille O’Neal (1992/93), Manute Bol (1985/86), and Terry Tyler (1978/79).

Vembanyama, a French professional basketball player, holds positions as power forward and center for the San Antonio Spurs basketball club and the French national team. He was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and shares the title of the tallest active NBA player (224 cm) with Boban Marjanovic.

On July 8, 2023, Vembanyama made his NBA Summer League debut against the Charlotte Hornets, showcasing an impressive performance with nine points, eight rebounds, three assists, and five blocked shots.
