UAE sheikhs bring basketball to a new level with a team entering the EuroLeague
In the upcoming 2024/25 EuroLeague season, a Dubai-based club is set to make its debut. Previously, there were challenges in reaching an agreement between clubs and the league on this matter. However, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo, a decision has now been finalized.
Representatives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) plan to invest €150 million in the EuroLeague over the next six years, with each EuroLeague club guaranteed to receive €5 million. Furthermore, during this six-year period, one “Final Four” event will be held in Dubai.
In addition to participating in the EuroLeague, the Dubai-based club will also compete in the ABA League, which includes clubs from the former Yugoslavia.
Key supporters of this initiative include prominent basketball clubs such as Barcelona, Panathinaikos, Fenerbahçe, and Bayern.
