Stephen Curry Receives NBA’s Clutch Player of the Year Award

The NBA announced on Thursday that Stephen Curry, the standout player for the Golden State Warriors, has been named the recipient of the NBA Clutch Player of the Year Award for the 2023-2024 season. This prestigious accolade, introduced last year, aims to recognize the player who consistently delivers in clutch situations, providing crucial performances for his team when it matters most. De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings was the inaugural recipient of the award, known as the Jerry West Trophy, in its debut season.

In a tight competition for the honor, Curry emerged victorious over Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan. Curry secured 45 first-place votes, each worth five points, along with 18 second-place votes (three points) and 19 third-place votes (one point), totaling 298 points from a voting panel comprising media members. DeRozan, despite putting up a strong case, finished with 272 points, including 34 first-place votes. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder rounded out the top three, garnering 160 points, with 11 first-place votes to his credit.

Despite the Warriors’ inability to advance beyond the Western Conference play-in round in the recently concluded NBA season, Curry’s individual brilliance and impact on the court remained undeniable.
