Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson Looks to Enhance Elusiveness with Reduced Weight
Lamar Jackson, the standout quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens at 27, renowned for his dynamic running abilities, is aiming to pose an even greater challenge to opposing defenses in the upcoming season.
Fresh off his second NFL Most Valuable Player award, Jackson has undergone a weight loss regimen and showcased a slimmer physique during the team’s OTAs this week. While he didn’t disclose his precise weight on Wednesday, indicating it was “two something,” Jackson recently mentioned in a video shared by Complex Sports that he currently weighs around 205 pounds.
In 2022, Jackson weighed 230 pounds, and he trimmed down to 215 pounds last season. Despite the weight loss, his on-field performance remained impressive, with 3,678 passing yards and 24 touchdowns, along with 821 rushing yards and five scores, guiding the Ravens to a stellar 13-3 record in 16 regular-season starts.

Regarding his weight loss, Jackson commented, “I don’t really know how many pounds I lost. I’m like two-something right now. But I just say it was important enough to be able to move around a little bit extra, that’s all.”
Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, Jackson emphasized that shedding weight was aimed at enhancing his agility and mobility.
Expressing satisfaction with his current weight, Jackson feels as elusive as he has in years and remains unconcerned about the potential impact on his ability to withstand the physical demands of his position, particularly given his propensity for running.
“We sacrifice our body each and every game (and) practices,” he remarked. “I believe it really doesn’t matter about the weight.”
His coach, John Harbaugh, echoed similar sentiments, expressing confidence in Jackson’s professionalism and his ability to manage his physical condition effectively.
“I think that’s Lamar, he’s a pro,” Harbaugh affirmed. “He knows what he’s doing. He knows where he wants to be with that. My concern is that he is in shape, best shape of his life.”
Jackson’s impressive career statistics underscore his impact on the field since joining the Ravens as the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft from Louisville, boasting 15,887 passing yards, 125 touchdowns, 5,258 rushing yards, and 29 scores in 86 games (77 starts).
