49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel leaves a playoff match due to a shoulder injury

The San Francisco 49ers possess a deep roster, but their performance takes a hit in the absence of versatile receiver Deebo Samuel.

In the early stages of the 49ers’ playoff journey, Samuel’s impactful presence was abruptly cut short due to a shoulder injury. Exiting the game during the second quarter, he returned for the third quarter without his uniform, signaling the end of his night.

Samuel was sidelined on the team’s initial drive in the intense 24-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the divisional playoffs. Engaged in a determined effort to gain extra yards after a short catch, he encountered multiple defenders. Jaire Alexander delivered a helmet-to-helmet hit during the encounter, leaving Samuel down for an extended period. While he didn’t immediately head to the medical tent, he did so shortly after leaving the field.

The 49ers initially reported that Samuel was undergoing evaluation for a potential head injury, and his return to the game was uncertain. Although he was cleared from the head injury evaluation and briefly re-entered the game for a few plays, Fox’s broadcast later revealed trainers attending to Samuel’s shoulder on the sideline. Shortly thereafter, he returned to the locker room. The 49ers officially declared him out for the remainder of the game early in the second half.

Deebo Samuel plays a significant role in the star-studded 49ers offense. The team enjoyed a 12-3 record with Samuel in the lineup, highlighting his impact, while they faced challenges with an 0-2 record when he was absent during the season.
