Dakar 2024: Motorcyclist in induced coma after accident
Spanish motorcycle racer Carles Falcon is in an induced coma after suffering a cerebral edema and vertebral fracture during the third day of the Dakar Rally 2024.
The 46-year-old crashed at the 448th kilometer of the special stage on challenging terrain. Falcon will undergo emergency surgery, and a medical helicopter transported him to the hospital. Reports indicate that he did not have a pulse when the helicopter arrived.
The Dakar Rally, taking place in Saudi Arabia from January 6 to 19, features various disciplines, including cars, motorcycles, ATVs, and trucks. Falcon represents the Twintrail team. In 2022, his teammate Isaac Feliu had a serious accident, which greatly affected Carles.
