The Golden State Warriors’ assistant coach, Dejan Milojević, has passed away at the age of 46, according to an announcement from the team’s press service. The club revealed that the cause of his death was a heart attack, which occurred on Tuesday during a team dinner in Salt Lake City. Despite being rushed to the hospital and receiving life-saving efforts, Milojević unfortunately succumbed to his condition on Wednesday morning, as reported on the official Warriors’ website. The team expresses profound sadness over the unexpected loss of their assistant coach.
In response to Milojević’s critical health situation, the NBA decided to postpone the Golden State Warriors’ scheduled game against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday.
Dejan Milojević initiated his coaching journey in 2009, transitioning to coaching after concluding his playing career due to a knee injury. As a Serbian specialist, he secured the Serbian Cup in 2016 and achieved notable success by winning both the championship and the Cup of Montenegro in 2021.
In 2021, Milojević joined Steve Kerr’s coaching staff with the Golden State Warriors and played a role in the team’s NBA championship victory in 2022.
