South Korea began the Asian Cup with a strong win
In the opening match of the 2023 Asian Cup group stage held in Qatar, South Korea secured a victory over Bahrain.
Although the first half presented challenges for the expected favorites, Hwang In-beom managed to break the deadlock in the 39th minute with a precise strike into the upper right corner, eluding the goalkeeper.
Bahrain’s national team, however, surprised by leveling the score. In the 51st minute, Abdul Al-Hashash, the 31-year-old forward, headed in a goal following a free-kick delivery. Despite this setback, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-In secured three points for Jürgen Klinsmann’s side with a stunning long-range strike and another goal.
In their next fixture, South Korea is scheduled to face Jordan, while Bahrain will contend with Malaysia in the Asian Cup Group E.
