Cadiz Snatches Last-Minute Victory Against Sevilla to Ignite Survival Hopes

Sergio Guardiola (32) came off the bench to deliver a dramatic 97th-minute Cadiz win against Sevilla, ending a 17-game winless streak on the road in La Liga and injecting new hope into their relegation battle.

Fighting to keep their LaLiga survival hopes alive, Cadiz came close to an early breakthrough when Chris Ramos’ skilful run tested Sevilla’s goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, who responded brilliantly to maintain a stalemate.

Jeremias Ledesma faced a similar challenge at the other end, standing firm to deny Dodi Lukebakio’s effort in a lively start.

Cadiz’s opportunities didn’t end there. Ramos had a golden chance when he went one-on-one with Nyland but astonishingly missed after rounding the keeper—one of the season’s most glaring misses.

Quique Sanchez Flores might have expected halftime to relieve the Cadiz pressure, but Roger Marti and Ruben Alcaraz quickly renewed their attacking threats.

Sevilla continued to ride their luck, even when Ramos seemed to have scored with a beautiful chip over Nyland just after the hour mark, only for VAR to nullify the goal for a foul in the build-up, cutting short Cadiz’s celebrations.

Aware of the stakes, Cadiz persisted in their pursuit of a goal. In the sixth minute of nine added on, they finally achieved their breakthrough.

Sergio Guardiola, coming off the bench, became the hero by finding the bottom left-hand corner to beat the resilient Nyland.

This last-minute victory gives Cadiz a vital lifeline, placing them just two points from safety with two games remaining, contingent on Celta Vigo’s performance in their upcoming match.
