Strasbourg frustrate Marseille with a late Jeremy Sebas equalizer, securing a draw for Patrick Vieira’s side in Ligue 1

Marseille experienced frustration at the Stade Vélodrome when Jeremy Sebas scored a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer, securing Strasbourg a 1-1 draw. Gennaro Gattuso’s team had initially taken the lead with Samuel Gigot’s third-minute header, seemingly enough to secure the win until Sebas’ late intervention.

Marseille’s opening goal came from Jordan Veretout’s seemingly harmless cross, flicked on by Vitinha to Gigot, who had ample time to head the ball past Strasbourg keeper Matz Sells. Initially ruled offside, VAR overturned the decision, giving Marseille an early advantage.

Both teams had opportunities afterward, with Pau Lopez making a crucial save from Kevin Gameiro’s strike, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missing a chance to double the lead with a header from Vitinha’s excellent cross. Veretout’s shot, blocked by Marvin Senaya, almost led to a second goal for Marseille.

Patrick Vieira’s Strasbourg, while possessing the bulk of possession, lacked a cutting edge. Dilane Bakwa’s late attempt hit the woodwork, signaling a tough day for them until Sebas capitalized on a poor defensive header from Jonathan Clauss in the first minute of stoppage time, securing a well-deserved draw for the visitors.

Strasbourg had a chance to make the outcome even more favorable when Moise Dion broke through moments later, but his angled strike narrowly missed the target.

The final score leaves Marseille in fifth place, trailing Brest by three points in the top four. Meanwhile, Strasbourg continues their impressive form, being unbeaten in their last six games across all competitions and currently occupying the ninth position.
