Bayer Leverkusen Cruise Past Roma in Europa League Semi-final First Leg

Bayer Leverkusen continued their remarkable unbeaten streak in European competitions with a commanding 2-0 victory over Roma in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final clash at the Stadio Olimpico. This victory puts Leverkusen one step closer to their first European final in 22 years, extending their unbeaten run to an impressive 47 games in all competitions.

The match started with promising attacks from both sides, with Amine Adli and Romelu Lukaku coming close to breaking the deadlock early on. However, it was Leverkusen who capitalized on a defensive error from Roma, as Florian Wirtz calmly slotted home after a mistimed pass from Rick Karsdorp.

Despite playing away from home, Leverkusen continued to dominate proceedings, creating several scoring opportunities in the first half. Jeremie Frimpong and Wirtz came close to adding to the lead, but were denied by Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar.

The second half saw both teams pushing for goals, with Piero Hincapie and Bryan Cristante missing chances for Roma. However, it was Leverkusen who found the back of the net again, with Robert Andrich unleashing a stunning strike from outside the box to double their advantage.

Despite a late surge from Roma, Leverkusen held on to secure a comfortable victory and take a significant step towards the final. With their impressive form, Leverkusen will be considered strong favorites against either Atalanta or Marseille in the final, as they aim to continue their magical season in Europe.
