The Toronto Maple Leafs, a National Hockey League (NHL) team, has officially announced the extension of their forward, William Nylander’s contract, as detailed on the organization’s website.

Nylander, a Swedish hockey player, has inked an eight-year contract with an annual salary of $11.5 million. This lucrative deal amounts to a total of $92 million over the contract’s duration, making it the largest contract in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The new agreement is set to take effect from the upcoming season.

With this contract, Nylander will be among the top five players in the league with the highest average salary, joining the ranks of MacKinnon, McDavid, Panarin, and Matthews.

William Nylander was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the NHL draft on June 27, 2014, securing the eighth overall pick. He initially signed a three-year rookie contract with Toronto on August 18, 2014. In 2018, just five minutes before the deadline, Nylander extended his association with Toronto by signing a new contract valued at $41.77 million over six years.

In the current season, Nylander has showcased his prowess in 37 games, accumulating an impressive 54 points, including 21 goals and 33 assists.
