Real Madrid is interested in signing a defender from the Premier League
Real Madrid is reportedly considering a move for Everton’s defender Jarrad Branthwaite, as disclosed by Football España, citing sources in England.
The current head coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, is familiar with Branthwaite’s abilities, having given him his Premier League debut while coaching Everton. Branthwaite joined Everton in 2020 but spent an extended period on loan. Following a recent loan spell at PSV, he has secured a spot in Everton’s core lineup this season, featuring in 21 matches across various competitions as a center-back, albeit without direct goal contributions.
Potential rivals for Branthwaite’s signature include top English clubs, Manchester City and Tottenham. This interest aligns with Real Madrid’s previous pursuit of Sevilla’s right-back, Juanlu Sanchez.
At present, Real Madrid shares the top spot in La Liga with Girona. The team, under Carlo Ancelotti, is gearing up for a crucial derby against Atletico in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup scheduled for January 10th.
